Seedbed can provide advice and guidance, develop training packages or information newsletters to help staff get their heads around importance legislation and policy developments, or work with managers and staff to understand how to integrate wider policies and priorities into their own planning and work.
Seedbed director Amanda is the Policy and Communications Advisor for the Third Sector National Learning Alliance, a national membership organisation of third sector organisations delivering adult learning. She writes a monthly Policy in your Pocket bulletin summarising relevant policy developments, funding opportunities and free or subsidised resources. This covers post-16 learning, devolution, community development, skills and any other policy that might impact on the work of the Alliance and its members. She also manages the website and the Twitter feed. Further information can be found at http://tsnla.org.uk/
Seedbed was asked by Prospects Careers Service to write training and reference materials on the impact of the Equality Act 2010 for careers advisors and managers. This also included practical workshops on changing behaviour and complying with the Act, and simple easy-to-follow training sessions that could be used by managers with their staff. Areas covered included age, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender and religion/belief.
Seedbed worked with a very small provider newly in receipt of public funding to become aware of the obligations and culture of publically funded provision. This included information about policy, the political landscape and government priorities, as well as practical help on developing a range of its own policies, procedures and ways of working that would be compliant with the new requirements (including Prevent, Safeguarding and inspection).
